Elementary School Newsletter May 9th 2022

Last week we all celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. This year more than any other, I appreciate our teachers showing up with all the weight of the world on their shoulders. This was a challenging year for all of us, and the teachers were there for our kids each and every day. I can't thank them enough for everything that they have done this year!

Rising 5th grade Pathways

Next year we will be offering a new program for our rising 5th graders. Historically, we have offered students the opportunity to participate in Music, Art, Coding, and Language & Culture on a quarterly basis. In 2022-2023, specifically for our rising 5th graders, we are giving them the opportunity to participate in 2 preferred electives, each being a semester long. This will help prepare them for Middle School, where they select one elective course called a Pathway which lasts the entire year.

Over the next two weeks, we will survey our 4th graders and have them rank their top three choices (with reasoning); availability is limited, so while many will get their top two, most should get at least two of their top three choices. If students do not complete the survey, they will be randomly placed in the least occupied classes.

The goal is for students to attend classes that they enjoy, which will improve engagement and allow them to deepen their knowledge in their preferred content. Every student will still attend PE at least twice a week. Surveys will go out this week and responses will be due by May 20th.

عرض الأزياء الثقافية!

حان الوقت لإظهار ثقافتك!

We are interested in learning about traditional clothing from different cultures. We invite students to participate in this year’s cultural fashion show at the Peace Rally on Thursday, May 19th at 9am.

If your child is interested in the fashion show, please let us know.

Please contact any ELL teacher if you are able to help out! Or email Mrs. Wagener, mwagener@premiercharterschool.org
